Alexandroupolis is a vibrant coastal city in northeastern Greece, located in the Evros regional unit within the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Built along the shores of the Thracian Sea, the city has a population of approximately 71,000 inhabitants.

Getting There
From Athens
Alexandroupolis is easily accessible via Alexandroupolis International Airport “Democritus” (AXD), located around 6 km from the city centre, with regular domestic flights from Athens International Airport (ATH). The airport is connected to the city by taxi services.

From Thessaloniki
The city can also be reached from Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” (SKG) via long-distance buses along the Egnatia Motorway (approximately 3.5 hours). The public bus line connecting Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” (SKG) with the intercity bus station KTEL Makedonia is Line 01X (day service) or 01N (night service). The bus stop is located in the Arrivals area of the airport, in front of Exit 4 of Terminal 1. Tickets can be purchased at the terminal from the ticket booth or from OSETH automated ticket machines.

Car rental services are also available for visitors wishing to explore the wider region. Car rental offices can be found in the airport upon arrival.

Climate
Alexandroupolis enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Summers are warm and sunny, while spring and autumn are mild, making them ideal for outdoor activities. Light clothing is recommended during warmer months, with a light jacket for the evenings.
